An assistant with the Seattle Storm and Lakeside, Chris Bown has made his mark with individual player development. His latest column on drills is about Oiler screen series, the fourth of four parts on drills from Charlie Sands of Los Angeles.

Oiler Drill Screen Series (Part IV)

Requirements: 5-9 players, two balls

Player 1 starts in the corner on the right side of the floor. Player 2 starts at the free throw line extended on the left side of the floor. Player 3 starts behind Player 2 with a ball. Player 2 sprints to the post position on the right side of the floor. Player 1 makes a baseline cut to the basket using 2 as a screen. Player 3 passes to Player 1 and follows her pass to the block. Player 2 then cuts off Player 3. And the drill continues.

Options:
1. Players shoot a layup.
2. Screener steps out farther and shooter shoots a jumper.
3. Change location of shooter and screener.

Note: This is the fourth of four parts on drills that were given to me and a few other coaches by Charlie Sands, the head basketball coach at West Los Angeles College.
